Foreo Luna cleansing device Review

Foreo Luna cleansing device Review

Here I come with another review and it is a BIG ONE. I am reviewing nothing less than a face cleansing device. Being cleansing devices a bigger investment, I wanted to get this one out there as soon as possible to add another opinion for those people researching prior to buying one.

Believe me when I say been there done that, that is why I really understand the difficulties of the quest for the perfect cleansing device. Prior to buying the Luna I also did weeks of in-depth research, to help me decide which device to buy.

On this review, I will let you know the reasons why at last I decided to buy the Foreo Luna, explain you about the device, as well as give you my complete review on the item after almost 2 years using it.

What is the Foreo Luna?

The LUNA™ skincare brush channels T-Sonic™ pulsations for deep facial cleansing that’s gentle enough to use every day while also incorporating anti-aging technology into its groundbreaking design.
Every LUNA™ comes with a 2-Year Limited Warranty and 10-Year Quality Guarantee.

Claims made by the brand:

Transform your daily skincare routine into an invigorating 2-minute ritual. In just 3 days, the LUNA™ facial-cleansing brush will bring you skin that appears visibly healthier and more radiant, and continued use will leave your skin looking enviably younger and smoother.

The unique combination of T-Sonic™ pulsations with silicone touch-points gently removes dead skin cells and unclogs pores of makeup residue, as well as 99.5% of dirt and oil*, enhancing the absorption of your other skincare products.

In its one-of-a-kind Anti-Aging Mode, the LUNA™ directs lower-frequency pulsations that, when applied to wrinkle-prone areas, reduces the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as brings skin that looks firmer.

Now for my particular case, after much research I decided to buy Foreo’s cleansing device versus other cleansing devices like the Clarisonic or Philips versions. The item I own is the Foreo Luna, designed for combination to oily skin, blue colored (you have 3 types, combination, normal/sensitive and ultra sensitive). It retails for about 169€ plus shipping costs. I actually bought it with a discount at the time, but the discount I used it is not available anymore. Still Foreo tends to do promotions from time to time in big events like Black Friday, Valentines and some other specific dates here and there, so I recommend you to subscribe to their newsletter if you want to be updated about those deals to buy it at a better price.

The Luna includes a small pouch for traveling, instructions, guarantee and the charger.

You also have available the luna mini, which retails for 119€ plus shipping, which is basically the same as the Luna, but smaller and minus the anti-aging modus.

Since I was already investing in something expensive, I decided to go all out and buy the upgraded product, being the anti-aging modus and sonic pulsations one of the things that sold me on the device, but just for informational purpose know that you also have a smaller version available (kind of like the mia in the Clarisonic) in case you don’t see the necessity of the bigger version.

Reasons why I decided to go for the Foreo Luna:

The main reasons why I decided to get the Luna were the following:

-No need to exchange brush heads (so it will be a big investment at the beginning but I wouldn’t have to keep spending money in order for the device to keep being effective)

-Cleanliness and less possibility for bacteria build up and germ accumulation (specially since I have sensitive and acne prone skin and I am a little bit of a germophobe). Since the brush is completely made out of silicone, it is easy to clean and maintain sterilized. Especially taking into account that it is something you want to use to remove dirt of your face, not to spread bacteria through it.

-The fact that it was waterproof and also rechargeable.

-The silicone bristles and the pulsations, since in my opinion you could get a deeper cleansing without being to harsh on the skin, versus for example other brushes that without pulsations will stay more on the surface when it comes to cleansing. This to me is a similar comparison to chemical vs manual exfoliation. Since you will be able to exfoliate, or in this case clean, without the damage.

-Being able to change the power on each modus, to adapt the setting to how my skin feels that day, and also the timer function that turns of after 3 minutes, so you don’t go overboard.

All these reasons together with the ones I mentioned before, like having pretty good technology and the anti-aging modus sold me on the luna.

What do I think after two years of using it?

Honestly I couldn’t be any happier, I am sure most cleansing devices can deliver pretty good results, but as far as the Luna goes I am IN LOVE with it. I religiously use it every day morning and night, and it has made my skin improve so much in texture and complexion, I really see the change when I don’t use it for a couple of days and the complete change back when I start using it again. I hardly ever stop using it, but in the rare major necessities like when I got my wisdom teeth removed or if I go away for a weekend and don’t take it with me,  I really miss it and really appreciate how it puts my skin back into place once I start using it again.

The Foreo Luna gives you a very good daily deep cleanse and mild daily exfoliation, it lathers soap pretty good if you wet it before using it, and it doesn’t pull on the skin or leaves it irritated. If it does, consider the way you are using it since you are supposed to glide it across the skin, never drag it. Tip: I always use it in upward motions to prevent loosing skin elasticity.

As far as the anti-aging modus goes, I can not tell you anything 100% because to be honest, having the extremely long skin care routine that I have I don’t use the anti-aging modus everyday, but I find it pretty relaxing to use and it definitely helps your serums and thicker creams to sink into the skin. So I mostly use it for massaging my face and help increase blood flow.

The one that uses it religiously and swears by it is my mom, who has been sneakily stealing my Luna from me every day during her routine for the past two years until I got her a new one for her birthday this year haha.

About the Foreo Luna

It makes my skin look and feel great

It did fulfill my expectations and most of the claims made by the brand

The battery last so long that in two years, being used daily by two people I think I have had to charge it only twice

It is very hygienic and easy to clean

One time investment

Multipurpose, washing, massaging, cream absorption, anti-aging..

It is on the pricier side, specially considering that on top of an already expensive item you also have to pay shipping

The round corner does leave some parts of the face a bit inaccessible, but nothing that can’t be solved with some wrist action, but l do wish the curve was a bit pointier

I would give it a 4.6/5 stars in overall performance, price vs quality, and product in general. Yes it is pricy but it is also very worth it.

Would I repurchase?

Hands down YES, not only that but I have repurchased another one recently, this time for my mom as a present so she can use it now that I have moved out.

That was all for today, I covered up all important aspects but do not hesitate to let me know if you have anymore questions,

have a wonderful day 🙂
